Martin is leading Nokia Networks for Energy in Asia Pacific supporting the communication and analytics requirements brought by Distributed and Renewables Generation, Smart Cities, and IoT. Martin is working with leading Energy companies in Australia, ASEAN, Australia, China, India, and Japan. He has been driving the shift to new business models since 2006 with the first projects of Smart Grid. He has a particular interest in leveraging Analytics, VPP, AMI, Microgrid, Renewables and Storage for Distribution Optimization.

Martin has over 20 years’ experiences in Utilities and Energy industries, and has led many strategy and transformation projects for his clients. Prior to joining Nokia, Martin was consulting with Workato and Kisters, and led Accenture’s Smart Grid Services for Asia Pacific working with clients in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Australia on Asset Management, Smart Grid and AMI roadmaps, and new business models.

Running IBM’s business in Utilities, Telecom, and Media in Germany he focused on Smart Metering, Integrating Renewables, and new services. During his time in China Martin introduced several First-of-a-Kind projects, and the Intelligent Distribution Outage Planning at Shanghai Municipal Power which was showcased during the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, eProcurement for Petro China and SCM for Huawei and the first asset management project in Chinese distribution utilities in Zhejiang. Early on in his career he started the SAP business in Utilities and Telecom in Japan working among others with Kansai Electric, NTT.

Martin is a frequent public speaker on Smart Grid related topics. He holds a Master’s degree specializing in Industrial Engineering from Technical University Karlsruhe, Germany and he studied International Marketing at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo.

Martin is based in Singapore with his Taiwanese wife and his ten-year-old daughter. He enjoys triathlon, eating, and traveling.
