Since January 2018, Yi-Hsen leads the Cleantech and Cities, Infrastructure & Industrial Solutions divisions as Executive Director. He charts and leads strategies to grow these two  emerging and important industries for Singapore. The Cleantech industry is a priority for Singapore given the concerns around renewable energy and environmental sustainability. The Cities, Infrastructure & Industrial Solutions industry taps on the industrial
and infrastructure growth in Asia and the urbanization trend where a competence and business hub from Singapore delivers the needed support. A firm believer in Science and T echnology, Yi-Hsen plans to leverage his extensive experience in technology, business model innovation and Asia to further grow the technical competencies in Singapore to support new solutions for global issues.

As Regional President Americas, Yi-Hsen oversees EDB’s five offices in the United States of America and Brazil which collectively covers the North and Latin American region. The team engages with leading American multi-national companies and high growth technology companies on their Asian strategy to grow their businesses in Asia. 

Prior to his current role, Yi-Hsen concurrently served as Chief Information Officer and Director for the following divisions within the EDB: Industry Identification and Incubation (i3), Safety & Security Industry Programme Office (SSIPO) and Office for Space Technology & Industry (OSTIn). During this period, Y i-Hsen championed the development of a satellite industry in Singapore and of pioneering capabilities in cybersecurity and safe city capabilities for Singapore. Yi-Hsen also served in various committees for Singapore’s Research, Innovation & Enterprise 2020 masterplan. 

Yi-Hsen graduated from the University of Tokyo with a Bachelor’s of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and has spent over 10 years in Japan. He is fluent in English, Japanese, Mandarin and Malay, and is married with two young childr en, reads extensively and enjoys outdoor jogs.
