Dr. Bas Hofs

Bas Hofs is a physical chemist working on making drinking water treatment more sustainable. He studied and received his PhD in the field of physical chemistry at Wageningen University (WUR) and then worked at KWR in the Drinking Water Treatment group for seven years on a broad range of topics (softening, rapid sand filtration, organic micropollutants, membrane filtration - including ceramic membranes and zero liquid discharge). The past four years he has been working at drinking water utility Evides, working on sustainability and residuals. Current research is focusing on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), CO2-footprinting and floating solar, in order to help meet Evides’ goals of becoming climate and energy neutral by 2025.
