Deputy Assistant Secretary for Manufacturing, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce
Brian Lenihan was appointed the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Manufacturing in December 2019. In this role he formulates and advances U.S. commercial interests in a broad range of manufacturing sectors and technologies at multilateral policy fora, NGO forums, inter-agency policy committees and advisory committees.
Mr. Lenihan oversees an office of industry analysts, trade specialists and economists which produce market intelligence and data analysis that enables industry and government agencies to make strategic decisions about trade and related business activities.
The office covers a portfolio of sectors that include: autonomous/unmanned vehicles, defense equipment, aerospace and commercial space applications, heavy machinery and rail, additive manufacturing, AI, robotics, semiconductors, ICT/5G connectivity, Smart Cities, civil nuclear, oil & gas, battery storage, electrification, grid infrastructure, environmental technologies, wastewater, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and health information technology.
